Join the University of Arkansas at Monticello MFA this summer as we feature work from our recent graduates, current students, and alumni.
Alexis M. Pacheco is a current UAM MFA student. Her poetry has appeared in several publications of Between the Lines. She received her B.A. in English from UAM, and she currently works in the Admissions office as a recruiter at the university. She has written for DINET.org as a volunteer writer, and she has served as an editor for Gravel. She will graduate from the MFA program in the Fall of this year.
Stage Four
The smell
of the hospital’s
new coat of paint.
The fumes
of a cigarette
smoked this morning.
The metastasized mess,
malignant mockery
