Only Two Inches
Claire Scott Only two inches to Salem according to the map makes getting there so easy maybe less than an hour for sure in time for supper so away we go singing off-key sixties songs speeding through one-horse towns through fields of wheat and soy appetites whetted by visions of oysters and lobster rolls followed by a cozy B & B for a night of four letter sex silly jokes stories of us as fumbling teens frazzled parents until six hours later we dead end in a railroad yard starving and barely speaking blaming each other for the unfindable town of Salem only two inches away. |
